2021 PGA / European Tour Major: The 149th Open Championship July 15, 2021 by Marc Jerbs

On Thursday, the Royal St. George's Golf Club in Kent, England will host the 149th edition of The Open.

This is the 15th time that Royal St. George's Golf Club has hosted the major tournament.

The par 70 golf course has a total yardage of 7,189 yards.

Defending champion Shane Lowry will defend the Claret Jug he won in 2019.

It was his first major title in his career and he won it in front of his home fans at Royal Portrush.

Shane Lowry was not able to defend last year because the Open Championship was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The opening round of the 149th Open Championship will start at 6:35AM BST.

England's trio of Richard Bland, Andy Sullivan and Marcus Armitage will start the tournament at hole No. 1.

The last to start the tournament will be the group of Rikard Karlberg, Ryutaro Nagano and Nicholas Poppleton at 4:16PM BST.

The sportsbook handicappers have installed Dustin Johnson as the favorite to win the last round of the 149th Open Championship on Sunday.
